Student Learning Outcomes
Below are the competencies that graduates of CAHME-accredited programs are expected to possess at the end of the program.
Domain I:
Knowledge of the Healthcare System
- Describe current issues and trends in the organization and delivery of healthcare along with the roles of healthcare professionals serving in our dynamic healthcare system.
- Articulate the impact of policy formulation, implementation, and evaluation in the delivery of health services.
- Identify key sources of data, describe social determinants of health, calculate basic epidemiology measures, and describe the health status of specific populations. Explain the major factors that determine population health status.
- Apply culturally competent techniques to the management of healthcare organizations, employees, and professional staff.
Domain II:
Critical Thinking, Analysis, Problem Solving and Business Skills
- Articulate the roles, responsibilities, structures, and influence that professional groups, regulatory bodies, and governing bodies hold in healthcare organizations.
- Analyze markets, market segmentation, strategy, change, and innovation in healthcare organizations.
- Apply techniques and methods to plan, design, implement, and assess information management and communications.
- Analyze data and interpret quantitative information.
- Use process improvement methods to improve the performance of healthcare organizations.
- Plan, develop, manage and financially evaluate projects.
- Apply economic principles and evaluate their impact on decisions and behaviors of individuals and healthcare organizations.
Domain III:
Communications and Interpersonal Effectiveness
- Write in an effective, concise business style.

Domain IV:
Professionalism and Ethics
- Apply ethical principles and moral decision-making models in analyzing and evaluating clinical/business conflicts and decisions in healthcare.
- Discuss and analyze health-related legal principles including standards, regulations, and risk management.
- Demonstrate professional behavior and skills expected of a healthcare professional.

Management and Leadership
- Articulate methods to promote and manage change.
